VALUE OF THE BAPTIST ASSOCIATION
Rafael de Armas, Peace River Assn., Punta Gorda: The following question has been asked from member churches, "What does the association do that merits our support?"
I wonder if you and the other guys could help him formulate a good answer.

John F. Kennedy, at his inaguration said, "Ask not what your country can do for you but what you can do for your country."
In my opinion, the association assist the church in expanding its Kingdom building capabilities.

I'm not a DOM but a church planter in Ohio who loves the SBC. I think this question about the value of the association is great to ask. I think there is a lost value that we need to reclaim. In my opinion, biblical ecclesiology in the SBC as been less than crystal clear so that it is hard for us to state a Bible reason for the association. As a result there are many in my (younger) generation who cannot see any value or purpose for the assoc. I'm interested to see some responses from DOM's out there.
I don't want to be a complainer just pointing out problems. Rather the Scriptures sufficiently give us all the direction we need for the local church amd I feel more confident than ever that the SBC is headed toward reclaimation of some precious things that have become lost. This reclaimation will strengthen our cooperation like nothing else ever will.
